The vast majority of people, including myself, have undergone quick spurts of growth in life. Whether through pregnancy, puberty or any other rapid expansions of muscle/bone etc, the upshot is having to deal with stretch marks. Having worked as a beauty therapist for much of my life, it is not uncommon for me to be asked is there a cure for stretch marks?
That’s a little bit like asking how long a piece of string is, so I usually respond “it depends”. First of all, everyone reacts differently to different treatment types. It often therefore depends on your own skins chemistry to see how well you’ll react to differing techniques. Stomach stretch marks for example, tend to have unique characteristics as generally they are found on fleshy areas of the skin. This compares to marks on the neck and arms which tend to be the result of quick body mass growth in parts of the body with low fat content. As a result, different treatments have different results.
It is very important that you do your research before choosing a treatment type. It is very common for people to start out treating their stretch marks by using a stretch mark lotion. As with everything involved in beauty treatment, these differ massively in both price and effectiveness.
Even effective lotions/crèmes can be made to work far more effectively by using simple products such as a Derma Roller which give topically applied fluids, a far higher chance of being absorbed so that the active ingredients in them get to work. In actual fact, this type of treatment tends to consistently outperform other treatment alternatives across the board and in recent years has become the fastest growing procedure on the market.
It is important to consult a dermatologist, your own GP or a trained beauty consultant before beginning any treatment type. Getting the information beforehand is vital in making the correct choices.
