What do acoustic consultants actually do

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 6:30 am

Sound pollution is becoming quite a big issue in most built-up areas these days and of late I’ve begun to think that an noise consultant could do something to reduce noise levels.

As it happens, incessant noise pollution is not as much of a problem as sudden peaks & troughs although in the work place, continuous noise that isn’t hugely loud is often a problem and give rise to partial deafness.

Perhaps one of the most significant human aspects of noise is that it has an adverse impact on sleep and continuous low level sleep deprivation is very detrimental to psychological and thus physical well-being.

To an Acoustic engineer this will be familiar territory. They exploit the latest acoustic technology to log decibel levels and pin-point sources of noise. By designing buildings to absorb noise energy they can significantly improve the quality of life for people and thus improve their health as well.

One common problem is due to aeroplane noise levels, especially in proximity to busy international airports like London Heathrow where aircraft come in low over densely populated areas. Even though there usually are some controls on take off and landing times, busy international and national airports effectively operate virtually twenty-four hours a day. Noise consultants are sometimes being used by airport protestors now to monitor volume levels and then to act as experts in environmental impact reports.

The Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant Program (AFG) is Giving Out Free Federal Grant Money

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 6:20 pm

The Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant program (AFG), also known as the AFG Fire Grants, is giving out $565 Million U.S. Dollars to fire departments that fulfill the proper requirements and that submit a successful AFG Fire Grants Application.

There are several great articles on www.AFGgrants.com that explain the requirements on how to apply for this free federal grant money and there are links to free help in filling out the application.  All types of fire departments large and small, paid or volunteer departments are eligible to apply for the free grant money.

This grant program was put in place by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and administered through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) after the attacks on 9/11/2001.

Eligible Organizations for FEMA Grants:
Across our great nation, most fire departments and EMS organizations are eligible for free government grants money through the FEMA Grants - AFG program.

These departments and organizations provide fire suppression and emergency medical and transport services for the general public in areas not owned by the federal government. The AFG program was designed to help your local departments and organizations to be better prepared for emergency situations.  Read about who are Eligible for FEMA Grants.

Things you should know when applying for an AFG Grant.
There are a number of things to consider when developing your approach to winning an award from the AFG program. Remember, this is a free federal governmental grant that is open to qualifying organization in the country. Since the funds for this program are limited each year and the need surpasses this amount allocated by the government, give your application the best chance of success, do your research.

As applicants, you know your needs but have you thought about what would benefit the community around you the best? Remember, you service a whole community. The larger the area a project covers, the better chance of approval. The more people that will benefit in a cost effective way, the better the chance your application has of passing the approval process.  Apply for an AFG Grant.

Health Hazards of Diesel Exhaust
The report issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Bureau of the Montana Department of Labor and Industry is a more detailed report than the previous one by the State of California on the hazards of diesel exhaust. This report goes into more detail on diesel exhaust exposure and ways to prevent such exposure. There were also animal studies conducted and their findings reported.

Diesel engines have become the most widely used portable power source in recent years. This had caused increased exposure to diesel fumes and exhaust more prevalent to workers and pedestrians alike because of the wide spread use of diesel engines in the transportation sector of our economy.

Diesel exhaust has been shown to contain 20 to 100 times more fine particles than exhaust produced from a comparable size gasoline engine. The fine particles carry with them the known cancer causing chemicals polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons. The noxious gases produced are also damaging to humans and the surrounding environment. These include nitrous oxides, nitrogen dioxide, formaldehyde, benzene, sulfur dioxide, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.

Your AFG Grant money may be used to install Diesel Exhaust Filters on all of your fire trucks and diesel apparatus.  This will help improve the health and safety of your fire fighters.

If you belong to a fire department make sure to let your chief or grants person know about this program and you will have your best shot to help your community and get a piece of this free federal grant money.

The AFG Grants program is also commonly referred to as the AFG Fire Grants.
The goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical services organizations.

A Survival’s Guide to Debt Elimination

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 4:40 pm

What is debt elimination? Debt cancellation is the pathway of getting your outstanding debts under control and then stopping getting into debt in the future. If you are in debt now then you should know that it is really going to destroy your future, in several ways.

For one your credit rating is going to be ruined, and it is very difficult and time consuming to get your credit back to a decent status. Of course the best method is to never get into debt in the first place, but since this is basically unavoidable in some cases, the most important issue here in this moment is how to get out of debt.

Budget

One of the most important things that people need to be doing with their financial resources is budgeting. Otherwise you are simply bringing money to your table and sending it out, without any idea where your financial resources are going and clueless to how much better it could be being used.

Most people do not realize that they are somehow putting more money out towards bills and other causes then they are bringing in, and although you may wonder how this can be, there are actually many ways, credit cards being one of the most common.

Nine out of ten persons have at least one credit card, and the majority of these people are at least a few hundred dollars in debt with their card.

Pay Off Your Bills

This is a must, and not a choice. You have to pay off your bills if you want to have complete debt elimination, and you need to prioritize your bills before you start paying anything off. Credit cards should be first, because they will affect your credit status most negatively and because they have high interest rates which you are going to end up having to pay off anyway.

You need to make sure that your housing bills are in your control next, including your food, rent, hydro, pets, telephone and cable bills.

If you need help with debt cancellation, remember that there are many people and institutions at your disposal that will be able to help you out here with the debt elimination.

It doesn’t matter how deep in the debt hole you are right now, complete debt elimination is possible, although it is going to take some time, effort and patience on your side. By keeping these tips and helpful advice in mind you will have the best chances of not only getting out of the debt you are in now but staying out of debt for good.

Property investments as a long term strategy

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 8:52 am

The real estate  investments market is extremely volatile at the moment. Many small investors have seen as much as ten year’s accumulated profit wiped out in one short year. Largely thanks to over-borrowing when credit was too available.

Property  investments should be seen as a long term investment only. Any wishing to get in and out quickly are at the mercy of the same market forces as any other commodity market. Values go up and down, but invariably the trend is a long, slow upward movement, with blips up and down along the way. 2006 saw the start of the current decline in values of houses and this trend looks set to continue downwards for the immediate future. At some point this will change, but it is almost impossible to predict exactly when this will occur.

Some markets are seeing more volatility than others. Dubai for instance has seen drops of over 50% in value in a few months time. Some are suggesting that Dubai’s luxury real estate market is finished, and those wishing to buy investment property in  Dubai should consider carefully the implications of buying real estate in a foreign land.

The long term future should be good for real estate prices, but the short term certainly looks bleak. As with any investment decision, bear in mand that values go up as well as down, particularly over the next 5 to 7 years as global economies struggle to come to terms with the enormous losses of the financial sector.

No one is in a position to accurately call bottom, or predict the future price of real estate.

Are Cheap Color Contact Lenses Worth Buying?

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 6:52 am

Although they may not like the tone of it at first, cheap colored contacts lenses may very well be appealing to a large audience. As the name implies, cheap contacts do not cost a lot of money. While some brands of contacts may be very expensive, there are other brands that don’t cost a lot. When you compare them, there really is not that many differences.

Many contact lens users feel that the less expensive brands of contacts are reliable, dependable, comfortable, and above everything else - light on the wallet. Even though cheap lenses are looked highly upon by some - others do not look at them that way. Some feel that less expensive lenses should be avoided at all cost, for the fear that they may harm vision or not offer the same quality that the more expensive brands of contacts offer.

Those who don’t wear contacts but have a liking for them, may find an inexpensive pair of contacts to be the ideal way to try them out. If you purchase a cheap pair of contacts it will not cost you a lot of money, yet it will give you the benefit in knowing whether or not contacts are for you. Unlike glasses, contact lenses won’t break or hang off your face. Contacts are a great choice for many, for the simple fact that they feel natural - kind of like a pair of eyes that you never thought you had.

Something to keep in mind, is the fact that cheap color contacts are not the highest of quality. As the name suggests, these types of lens are inexpensive in price - and also quality. Normally, they are the way to go for individuals who cannot afford the quality brands. Even though the quality is not the best in the world, those who wear cheap contacts usually don’t have any complaints.

Alternatively some people will view cheap non prescription color contacts as the best purchase, others will view them as a waste of money. This is all about preference, and what you desire is the top choice for you. If you have the cash to spare, you would be better off getting a pair of designer contacts. However, if you are on a limited budget, cheap contact lenses would be just fine - at least until you get the money to buy one of the better brands.

Cheap contacts can be found on the Internet, or at your local Optomotrist office. They will not set you back a lot of money, yet they will provide you the vision you require. Contacts are a great alternative to glasses, especially for those who need glasses but hate to wear them. Contact lenses are what they are - the best way to obtain the vision you need without wearing glasses. Cheap contacts are an ideal solution to glasses - at a price people can afford.

Car Audio by Kenwood

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 8:00 am

Technology is advancing at an alarming pace. Many of us in the market for auto sound systems have been more than surprised at many of the choices on the market today. Sound systems have gone far beyond the simple tuners of days past and are incorporating other features into the sound system as well. Today you can find all kinds of bells and whistles with price tags to match. It would be very easy to spend two or three thousand dollars in the purchase and installation of a very nice auto sound system in your car, truck, or SUV. Most of us, however, would do just as well with a simple three hundred dollar sound system and would be unlikely to use many of the features that the higher price sound systems offer.Kenwood car audio systems are one of the best we have found.

That being said, if you plan to be in the market for an auto sound system, a DVD players/entertainment system, an MP3 player, a CD player, and/or a navigation system for your vehicle, then you might want to select one of the more feature rich auto systems that are available on the market today. You just might find that you get more bang for your buck with these sorts of systems.

These systems offer a great many features and can be found in all kinds of price ranges. Once you find the system you like I highly recommend comparing prices all around and going with the best deal you can find. Remember to include things such as shipping and/or installation in the prices as most of the more inclusive, feature rich systems are in dash systems and will more than likely require professional installation. If you can find a local retail center that is willing to install free, I highly recommend consider that as a huge perk, especially if they are close or willing to match your lowest price elsewhere.

Some of the more popular feature rich auto sound systems you can find on the market today are listed below with a very wide array of prices that I have found for them.

1) Pioneer AVIC-N2 DVD/GPS Navigation System. The price range on this system is between $750 and $1,200 without installation. This unit has DVD, CD, MP3, and navigation capabilities.

2) Alpine IVA-W200 DVD/CD/MP3 Player. These can also be found between the prices of $760 and just over $1,000. This system consists of a DVD player, CD player, and an MP3 player but doesn’t have the navigational assistance and GPS.

3) Jensen VM9311TS AM/FM/CD/DVD with a 7″ LCD screen. This device is priced significantly lower and has all kinds of amazing capabilities. CD/DVD/MP3/WMA/iPod and XM capable though it too doesn’t have GPS or navigational assistance. The price on this system however is between $330 and $500, which makes it a pretty good bargain. The Kenwood KVT-717 DVD is one of the top dvds made for cars.

I hope you find something here that strikes your fancy and remember it’s never too early to begin lobbying for next Christmas. You can tell everyone what you want and hope that friends and family will pitch in and add gift certificates to your savings for the auto sound system you’ve been dreaming of (you might also want to plan to have a vehicle you intend to keep a while should you decide to make this sort of investment).

Find People Completely Free

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 7:22 am

Do you want to find someone for free? Well here is an article that will provide you with some useful information on how this can be possible. Take a few minutes to read it right to the end and you will be glad you did. Whether you are trying to do a check on your potential date and you want an answer to the question that has been eating you up i.e. how do I find out if someone is married - or you are missing an old time friend? What ever your answer this post is for you.

One thing I have noticed is the increase in the number of people who are trying to locate their loved ones. With the world becoming a global village it is easy to have someone move to another country and live there for a very long time. This can result to people losing touch with each other for many years.

Fortunately the advent of the internet has made it quite possible to locate people without much effort. This is why I always encourage people to start their search online. It is the best way to get hold of someone fast and absolutely free. You just need to know where to look. Let me give you a few tips on how to do this.

First and foremost do a Google search. This search engine has been wonderfully designed to present highly targeted results. So simply enter the person’s name and surname and then hit enter. Make sure you put it in inverted commas. Chances are you will come across a page that mentions the person you are looking for. This is especially true if the person has a unique name. If the results are too long to sift through then simply search for people finder white pages.

Another option is to search blogs. It is possible that the person you are searching for owns a blog. You can search using the Google blog search or any other blog search engine available totally free online.

Lastly, using the advanced tool in the search engines can also help you narrow your search and be more specific. This advanced feature is available in most search engines including, Google, Yahoo, MSN, All the Web, AOL to name just a few.

What is Tai Chi? A quick guide from Stratford Tai Chi

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 6:53 am

The exact origins of Tai Chi are hard to tie down. There are many myths about its origins. One of those says that Taoist monk Chang San-feng was disturbed by the sounds of a snake and a crane fighting in his courtyard. He then built a style based around their movements.

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese form of movement that coordinates your body and focuses on the cultivation of internal energy. It’s aim is to harmonize the mind, body and spirit hence, promoting both metal and physical well being through relaxation. It is often described as a type of meditation that combines deep breathing and movements that exact structual alignment. Correct practice appears rhythmical, effortless and in continuous flow and it can generate surprising power almost at odds with its gentle movements.

People who regularly practice Tai Chi become revitalized, relaxed, tolerant, stronger and healthier. Tai Chi is suitable for all ages and sexes because it does not rely on strength, force or speeds. It brings benefits in many areas.

Tai chi is derived from Chinese health and longevity practices, which were merged with a comprehensive system of self defence. In the past, much of Tai Chi was kept secret, but very gradually, knowledge of the art spread throughout China. Now at the start and end of every day in villages, towns, and cities all over Chinese Asia, people can be seen practicing the slow, graceful movements of tai chi in courtyards, squares and parks.

Tai chi came to the West during the 20th century largely due to the cultural revolution when many masters fled the country. Today, tai chi is found in almost all countries, and a huge number of people practice it regularly.

It requires a high degree of concentration and mental focus. The breathing is natural, sometimes involving deep breathing, and is carefully synchronised to your movements.

Tai Chi consists of soft, relaxed (usually) slow movements and is recognised as being good for stress, balance, blood pressure and general health. It is one of the one of the Chinese Internal martial arts (neijia). The others being Hsing-I, Ba Gua Zhang and Liuhebafa(Six Harmonies, 8 Methods).

Tai Chi appeals to a wide range of people and age ranges, (teens and 20’s up to 80’s & 90’s) but it is not common for the art to be taught to children as the training can be slow for their tastes. There are a number of forms specifically targetted at the over 50’s and health problems such as Arthritis.

RentinNerja Changes Name To RentIn-Nerja

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 10:42 am

As the SEO specialist for the RentIn Group I am responsible for the smooth operation of Search Engine Marketing and natural rankings within the search engines !  Under normal circumstances the development of the Apartment Rentals / Villa Rentals sites for locations across Spain is generally business as usual, yet the original Nerja site needs a slight name change to fit in with the other websites representing areas such as Mijas, Marbella and Javea.

Now this is a worrying time!  The transfer of content etc is not the problem, its keeping the visitor traffic from the search engines coming to the site which presents the problem when changing domain names.  Why? . . . because all of the links already listed by Google are all pointing to the old domain name, which provides the “authority” count for Google as part of its valuation on how important the site is compared to every other site on the same subject.  So the question for me is how do I go about transferring all of this good ‘authority’ indexed by Google - over to the new domain and avoid loosing our position within Googles Search Results.

Clearly there’s a lot of links within Blogs, reviews and forums where folk have referenced the Nerja Villa Rentals web site and there’s very little chance of getting those links changed, so we run the risk of losing the “link juice” from most of them.  Thankfully we are holding onto the original domain and and there’s what is called a permanent redirect (code 301) that we can set on the original domains server which informs the search engines, when they follow the original links to the original site, that there is a new location for the content of the page and this new location for the Nerja Villa Rentals will be updated over time within the search engines and the transfer of most of the “authority” value of a site should move over to the new domain.

Google’s Matt Cutts mentioned in his blog that its a good idea to leave up the 301 redirections on the old domain for at least 18months…   clearly because there’s not guarantee that Google will cover the whole of the inbound links/web pages of a sight within a shorter period of time.  Of course, this means continuing to pay the domain and hosting fees of the old domain along with the new domain.  However, under the circumstances and the importance of maintaining a decent position within Google for Nerja Accommodation Rental then we have no other option.
