Weight Management: A High Protein Diet

Filed under: Uncategorized — george @ 7:20 am

Countless studies have shown that a diet rich in protein can help us lose weight or maintain our current dress size. This is mostly due to the fact that when we consume more protein we in return consume fewer carbohydrates. In this article I will discuss the benefits of a protein rich diet and the type of foods you should be consuming in order to attain weight loss results.

The reason why protein is so beneficial when quick weight loss is concerned is due to the fact that it increases our metabolism and curbs our appetite. Protein works similar to the appetite suppressant known as hoodia, it curbs our appetite by helping us feel full longer. Furthermore, when we eat more protein, we in return eat fewer carbohydrates. When our bodies are deprived of carbohydrates, we begin to burn our excess fat for fuel. This in return leads to quick and effective weight loss. This particular bodily action is known as Ketosis. So what are some of the foods we should be consuming in order to lose weight or maintain our current weight?

One excellent choice of protein comes from whey protein shakes. This particular shake is very beneficial because it is made up solely of whey. Unlike animal protein, whey protein is easily absorbed and broken down by the body. Furthermore, it is free of saturated fat, trans fat, calories, cholesterol, and sodium. It is one of the healthiest choices out there. Some other sources include: eggs, fish, and lean poultry. It is easy to incorporate these foods into our daily diet. Simply be sure to watch the amount of calories and cholesterol that some of these products contain. You don’t want to load up on unnecessary cholesterol while trying to increase your protein intake. Working out a well balanced and healthy weight loss plan is the key to success.
